The website, the support and steam version updates..

Postby Hollow0n3 » Mon Nov 05, 2012 11:00 am

Hello.

This is my 3rd try to get support for Runaway: A Twist of Fate.
A while ago I got the Pendulo Studis Adventure Pack on Steam.
I played and enjoyed the first two Runaway games without much trouble.
The third simply does not work, I tried all kinds of fixes, it keept crashing and eating my savegames.
I did my research, found out that Steam only has version 1.0.0.1. and emailed Steam support about it.
They ignored most of what I said and keept telling me to contact Pendulo.
Too bad the links on the Steam support page are dead, same for the link on the games website to the forum.
I emailed pendulo supoort for the game on the 27th.
I got no answer till today, emailed again, found this forum by checking the link on the website for Yesterday and decided to post here.

Could someone PLEASE put the two years old update on steam so I can see if it fixes the crashes, file corruptions and eating of savegames?
I really would like to play with what I bought.
Oh and if someone has the bright idea to tell me to try to disable steam community... that was the first thing I did, thats how I was able to actually get to chapter 2. Installing the update by hand? Not possible since the installer does not consider the steam version to be installed.

I would *really* like to see an answer.

Please check that the game is correctly installed:

1. Run Steam and click Library.
2. Right Runaway A Twist of Fate and click Properties.
3. Click Local Files tab then Verify Integrity of Game Cache button.
4. Run the game.

Otherwise:

1. Quit Steam.
2. Click Windows Start button then Computer.
3. Open Local Disk (C:).
4. Open Program Files or Program Files (x86) folder.
5. Open Steam folder and delete the file ClientRegistry.blob.
6. Run Steam then the game.

Hooray for an answer!

I tried the first solution several times. Thats how I managed to get to Chapter 2.
In Chapter 2 any attempt to go to the rec room results in a crash.
I will now try your 2nd solution and edit this posting afterwards.

Edit: A loaded savegame and an attempt to enter the rec room later.. I got the exact same crash again.
I will now try to make a new player profile, rush the first chapter and then attempt to enter the rec room in chapter 2. Just for the sake of beeing able to say that I really tried everything.

Edit the 2nd: New Profile, new save, same crash. Help?

There, that should cover the relevant bits. Also.. since you did not answer my question about the version on steam I assume the v 1.11 is already there? Someone on the game hub mentioned that the exe files version number is always 1.0.0.1.

So.. it's the weekend again and there is only spambot activity on the board.
I would have at least liked to see something along the lines of "We are working on it."

Oh and.. I can get the next big thing to work on my system.. so.. its kind of obvious that a twist of fate itself is the problem.

A couple of stats:

Spambot postings I reported today before making this posting: 10
Forums on this website I looked at: Just this one.
Help I have gotten over this month: Attempts stopped after I was asked for my system specs, which are slightly HIGHER then the ones the game requires. That was well over a week ago
Chance that that I will buy another Pendulo Studio made game: Less then 0.10 % at this point
Chance that I will recommend a Pendulo Studio made game to anyone: 0 % at this point

If you guys had at least fixed those broken links on your own website I would have been able to assume that you are working on it.
I'll uninstall "A Twist of Fate" now and I doubt that I will have a good thing to say if someone asks me about your support.
